Liquidy goodness

No, it's not from my husband, you sickos. I was being a lazy ass yesterday, laying in bed with Kenzie, all curled up warm and comfy in pajamas and our goose-down comforter, and watching Everyday Italian. Giada made this drink that had me sitting up and wondering about the contents of our fridge. The only thing we had was champagne (imagine that, liquor but no juice). The drink looked good enough to get me up and out of bed, get dressed, and brave the cold to go to the grocery store. Plus I had to get some stuff for dinner anyway, so at least I wasn't just going to the store to stock up on stuff to get myself good and drunk by 1:00 in the afternoon on a Sunday.

Once home, I waited until 4:30 to finally make my pitcher(s) of goodness. I was going to make them earlier, but Jay gave me dirty looks and made me feel like I had a drinking problem so I held off. I don't have a problem, I swear. It's not like I take sips off the bourbon bottle during the week when he is at work and I'm alone with the children. I don't. I swear. I hate bourbon. Now if it was vodka, that would be a different story.

Anyway, once the drink was made, it looked yummy enough to bring out a pretty wine glass to drink from. After one sip, I was in heaven. Pure heaven. I downed the first glass and immediately refilled my glass. Then I drank half of that, refilled it, and put it on the table to wait for dinner. As I was making homemade fish and chips, I didn't think I should drink too much while I had hot oil on the stove. I'm so smart. I couldn't wait for dinner to start so I could drink more.

Between my mother and I, we drank over a pitcher full. And since I am awesome, and feel like sharing my awesomeness with all of you, here is the recipe of a truly orgasmic drink (truly, orgasmic is the only other word for this drink.).

Blissini
by: Giada the pregnant chef

1. bottle of champagne
2. carton of orange juice
3. bottle of pomegranate juice

Find big pitcher, put in the juices first, then the champagne. Mix. Drink whole pitcher immediately. Rest for awhile, go back for more.

By the way, the drink turns out the color I wrote the recipe in. Jay even drank it and liked it. Not loved it, like I did, but he did drink a glass during dinner.

And since I'm giving out drink recipes, I might as well share another drink that I love. I don't know the name of it, but it is very refreshing and nummy on hot nights. Or even when it's not, but you want to pretend it is.

Ginger Goodness
by: my friend, Jann

Half bottle of Ginger Beer (not ginger ale, it's not the same)
Juice of 1/2 fresh lime, plus some zest of the lime
1 to 1 1/2 shots of vodka

Pour over ice, then zest lime over the drink. Drink 5 before you realize you can't walk. Pass out. Repeat.

No, the drink isn't blue. But it's good. Very good. If you aren't a ginger person, don't try it. Ginger beer is VERY ginger-y. And since ginger helps calm your stomach, you don't really get the stomach crampiness you normally get with sweeter drinks.

I did do more than drink this weekend. I swear. We took the kidlets bowling on Friday night. I bowled a 124 the first game, and then Evan (at 5 years old) bowled a 124 the second game. No one else broke a 100 in either game. Sad. But awesome for Evan. He was so proud of himself. Saturday, I took Mason to meet his dad in Centralia. I was so sad, but I reminded myself that I will see him soon and I felt a little better. Then I stopped at my brothers house in Olympia to visit for awhile. Those guys are too funny. I know they usually beat up on me and make fun of me all the time, but I also know they love me. They also sent me home with a few bottles of champagne. Score! That night, we played dice with my parents and I didn't even drink. See, I can be social without drinking. Ha!

And like I said, I was a complete lazy ass all day yesterday. I got dressed to go to the store, and when I got home, I got undressed again. I laid in bed watching Food Network with Kenzie and Evan (my daughter loves cooking shows so we watch them together often), took the dog outside to play catch with Jay, made a delicious dinner of fish and chips, folded laundry, cleaned up our living area, and had sex. Not exactly in that order.

Geez, seems like a lot of work just to get loaded. I say buy yourself a bottle of "43" and the next time the urge hits follow these instructions:

1. Open bottle
2. Drink

RZV: So an apron does it for you? Huh? So that's why you're so upset that I never wear the apron you bought me.

Random: She is my husbands "cheat" girl, but apparently, since he found out she got knocked up, "She is a worthless whore. She's dead to me!". But she makes a mean drink.

EA: But when something sounds good, you just have to go for it. You know, the slogan men have lived for for decades. Men have boobies, women have liquor.

If only I had champagne, orange juice or pomegranate juice, I'd be halfway to passed out on this lovely Monday night.

Wait. I totally forgot that Giada was pregnant. She's so pretty (even though some people think she looks like a bobble head), but her husband looks like a dork. I wonder what their baby will look like!

also - I'm so making that drink. NOW.

And to think that I just had a swig of pure 100 proof vodka and thought it was a good drink?

Ooh, I just had that recently. But it was an accident. I was was debating throwing out a mimosa (because GROSS) but, what a waste right? I added some pomegranate juice. I wasn't thrilled, but it was drinkable. I'm pretty sure it was the champagne that was gross though. It's not really one of the things that is a good idea to get at the grocery store.
