Because I am a good mommy....

Today is rainy and gross out. So I made the decision to stay home and find stuff to do inside with the kids. I plan on doing the following things:
  1. make them a yummy breakfast that involves more than opening a box of cereal and adding milk.
  2. give them a bath and let them stay in until they get all wrinkly. I will add bubbles and toys and let them play their hearts out.
  3. bake cookies with them. Let them add both chocolate chips AND M&M's. I will let them eat the whole first batch by themselves.
  4. take them on a rain walk/treasure hunt. Then come inside, put on comfy warm clothes and drink hot chocolate and more cookies.
  5. make something with the "treasures" we found and give them to grandparents and daddy.
  6. have them help me make dinner. I was planning on balsomic chicken with roasted potatoes and asparagus, but instead I'll make their favorite: "fried" chicken with tons of ranch.
  7. watch a good fall type movie while we snuggle on the couch and eat popcorn.
So far, I've accomplished breakfast. They had bacon and eggs with cheese along with chocolate milk. Once I finish this, I think we are going to make cookies, then go on the treasure hunt and finally come home and take a bath.

So have fun at work or school. I'm going to go and enjoy my children for awhile.

Princess: Believe it or not, the kids vetoed the rain walk/treasure hunt. We made cookies (they ate a lot of the batter), and when I suggested the rain walk, they said they wanted to stay inside because it was "too code outside, Momma". I thought it was a great idea, but Kenzie just wanted to eat cookies, and Evan liked that idea, too.

Crystal: I always have plenty of wine onhand, so no cop calls please.

Bacon...chocolate milk...chocolate cookies...fried chicken?? Yeah, you better enjoy those kids while you can. They'll be dead in a year!

Dyck: First off, the kids never get much stuff with sugar in it or fried food. We have brainwashed them into believing McDonald's food is poison so they never ask for it. I think a day every now and then with sugar is fine. And, notice, I said "fried". I bake my chicken always, and if ever it is "fried" it is E.V.O.O.

Too late, Britney! I've already notified protective services. Those kids belong to the state now.

I can just see it now:

Dad will come home, ready to enjoy the evening with his lovely family. The kids will pounce on him the second he walks in the door: "daddydaddycomeseewhatwe didwehadacoolbreakfastandgottoplayinthebathtubforhoursandmommmymadeuschocolatechipcookiesandemamemsandweatethemallbyourselfsandwewatchedamovieandmommygaveuschocolatemilkandwehadmorecookiesandwewatchedamovieandcomeseecomesee!"

And daddy will put his coat back on and head back to work until the sugar high wears off. Ah, good times. Good times.

Wow... I need to print this out, hand it to my clients and say, "See, this is what a GOOD stay at home mom has planned for her kids."

But then again, in my line of work, I get excited when my clients make a list of things to do with the kids during the day which doesn't include, "Do lots of meth" or "Beat the kids with an electrical cord for being loud" or "Watch television while getting drunk/stoned out of my gourd while the kids simmer in their own feces"

If only all moms were so involved and attentive!
