Prouder than I've ever been

Can I tell you all a secret? Can I?

I have not been a proud American for a very long time. If I could have picked up and moved my family overseas, or even north to Canada, I would have. I was embarrassed of my country, of what a laughing stock we had become because of George W. Bush. I was appalled that our nation had allowed this man the right to ruin our greatness.

But last night, watching Obama win, my pride came back. Listening to his vision, hearing his conviction that we will be great again, that YES WE CAN unite and stand together as a nation. I was moved.

I believed him. I believe he believes in what he says, and I believe he has what it takes to get things done.

To believe what the most powerful man in our country has to say is an awesome thing.

First comment here but I love your blog. I truly believe that our country needs change. But - the things everyone (I'm sorry, anti-Obama voters) seem to be focusing on are if Obama wins/now that he has won "He wants to change the flag so it will be more peaceful/accomodating to our Islam brothers"; "He will take our money to spread the wealth"; "He wants to change the Anthem"; "He will take away legally registered handguns"; "He will make it illegal to use lethal force against an intruder in your own home"; "He will not place his hand over his heart for the National Anthem". This scares the he** out of me. I am not anti-Obama; I am not pro-McCain - he was no true prize. I just want to understand. Truly. I am, obviously, not a political person. I only know what I hear. You are obviously much more politically centered than I am. Thanks.

Lizzle: I am so happy right now.

Anonymous: For this cause alone, I have paid attention. I am anti-gun, I have not sang the anthem in years, I believe the wealthy should pay more in taxes than I do, I know our country needs to look at greener resources. I truly believe this man, with the support of our nation, can make the changes needed so our children can have a better life than we had.

Now we've all just got to be patient and give him a chance, because he has a helluva job ahead of him.
