Rainy days and Monday's always get me down.....

Saturday afternoon it snowed in Seattle. We got about 2 1/2 inches.

My mom with Kenzie and Evan

Then it started to rain.

And rain.

And rain.

Monday, Jay got up at 2:00 in the morning to pee, and stepped into an inch of water.

Our unfinished basement got flooded.

Jay's feet in the entrance to our bedroom.

We bailed water from 2:30 until 6:30, which is when Bill got back from Home Depot with a pump to get the water out. By this time, we had taken in quite a bit more water, enough that we had had to wake the kids up and move them upstairs. It took a pump that is supposed to pump out 1200 gallons an hour 3 hours to get all the water out. Luckily, we had gotten to it before it got to most of the furnishings and we were able to get everything up off the floor.

The kids and I stayed at my grandparents Monday night because downstairs was still wet. We finally came home yesterday at 7:30. My step-dad had disinfected everything by then, and the kids floor was dry. We spent much of last night putting stuff away and getting everything up on blocks, just in case this happens again.

Today is my 31st birthday, and I get to spend it washing all the clothing and towels that got wet during the flood. Yeah.

Thats awful. At least if the flooding ever gets out of control you can gather up the kids and safely float away in your husband's giant shoes.

Happy Birthday!

And know that someone out there would be ever so grateful to be in your shoes, and have kids and a hubby to share a flood with....

Life is in the lens...

You should have left the water. Most people would kill for an indoor pool.
