I promise, I'm not leaving you guys in the dark about anything, I just haven't been leading that exciting of a life.

I know you are all wondering how my day with the kids went, because many of you actually wanted to be MY kids for the day. The difference between you and my kids is they would rather watch cartoons than go outside on a treasure hunt. Which means treasure hunt and art project were scrapped. They did eat all of their breakfast greedily and take the longest bath known to man. I added hot water twice, and there were enough bubbles in there for 50 people. They helped me make cookies and I let them have one spoonful of cookie dough. They only ate half the first batch, but made up for it after lunch by eating the rest of the first batch plus a lot from the second. SUGAR HIGH came next, then the sugar crash. When I asked if they wanted to help make dinner, Kenzie looked at me with her big blue eyes and said "No, mommy, I just want to eat it all. Making it is BOOOOOOORIIIIIIIINNNNNGGGGGG." Wow, so now my daughter knows my life is boring, since it consists of baking and cooking for them daily. Evan did help me sweep since he is young enough to think chores are fun things to do. We tried to watch Hocus Pocus because it is my FAVORITE fall movie ever (and my oldest son, Mason's, as well) but the DVD was either dirty or my one of my rugrats scratched it. Whatever it was, the damn thing kept skipping and stalling. I finally said fuck it (not out loud) and we watched fall cartoons on ONDEMAND. That made the kidlets happy. Dinner was meatloaf, mashed potatoes, gravy, and salad.

This weekend, we took the kids to the drive-in to see The Seeker with my parents. They loved the idea of going out with p.j's on to go eat popcorn in the car and watch a movie while laying down in the back of the SUV. Their Poppa gave them a bunch of quarters to play video games and then bought them popcorn and candy. Then we went back to the car and watched the movie. They focused for about 20 minutes, then decided it was play time in the back. I had laid the back two rows of seats down so they could lay down and watch the movie, but they decided playing tackle was funner. They people behind us probably thought the Mr. and myself were having a drive-in fuck from the way the Durango was rocking. Finally they calmed down for the last 15 minutes of the movie and asked so many questions about what was happening because they had ignored so much of it. By the time we got the seats righted and got on the road, they were half asleep. I love how kids can be going fucking crazy one minute and then fall asleep the next. We carted them to bed when we got home, and my step-dad and Jay decided to watch The Thing and order a pizza. At 10:30 at night. I got on the laptop and tooled around the internet for awhile, ate a piece of pizza, then went to play Lego Starwars downstairs. The Thing just didn't interest me at all. I finally fell asleep at 2:30 in the morning.

Sunday, I picked my grandparents up and we caught the 10:10 Fauntleroy ferry to Port Orchard to visit my aunt. She lives way the fuck out in the toolies, I'm not kidding. The kids loved it though. She has 2 1/2 acres of wooded land that my little monsters could play in, and my 17 year old cousin, Dylan, took them on a nature walk so I could gossip with Nanna and Aunt Joni. My Poppa took a nap. We headed back on the 5:30 ferry. It was a good visit, but I do not envy my teenage cousin, who doesn't drive. I love nature, just not being in it, near it, with it.

Didn't I tell you you weren't missing much. My life is pretty boring. I vow though to take the kids on a nature walk. Even if that means taking them to the zoo again. I found out my Poppa loves the zoo, so maybe he can go with us.

Being near my family is one of the main reasons for moving here. And being able to just drop in to see my grandparents has been awesome. I love spending time with them and have missed seeing them as often since I moved to Oregon. The kids are also enjoying family. They LOVE my parents, and Kenzie is in pure heaven with all the attention. Her great-grandparents are icing on the attention-filled cake.

Amen, sister. Nature is cool in theory, but kinda gross in reality.

Interesting how you moved to be closer to your family. I'd like to get away from mine.

Trust me, boring life is better than a super busy one! I'm scientist by day and carpenter by night! Ouch, that's a nail in my finger ...

You really do sound like a pretty cool mom.

I am also jealous that you still have drive ins out there. The closest one to us in North Jeresey (to my knowledge) is near Scranton, Pennsylvania and I just don't get out there often enough. We have a family reunion out in that area and I have gone to the drive in in the last 7 years, but it's something I wish I could do A LOT more.

I like boring a lot. I try to keep my life that way at all times, but sometimes mother fuckers get in the way of my serenity.

I hope you're having a good day today.

I didn't want to be one of your kids. Actually, I wanted to be your sexy pool boy, Paco. No, that's a wimpy name. Pedro! Yeah. Wait, now I can only think of that guy Nepolian Dynamite. Ok, scratch that too. I'll be Fernando. Yeah. Why am I picking spanish names?

I'm with Dyckerson....I'd rather move away from my family, but what's ya goin do?

Sounds perfect...I remember being little and going to the drive in in my pj's, and falling asleep in the car and missing most of the movie...but it was still fun.

Ya, I still wanna be your kid...

If you guys decide that you want to bear the elements, can you start working on an ark? This rain... ugh. I've had enough already. And you know it's just the beginning.

boring is good. close to family is really good. if we move to head back to school next year, we don't really want to head out of state so we can stay close to our parents.

Popped over via Beth's blog, glad I did! Starwars Lego ROCKS! I've got a Lego Vader keyring, complete with fabric cape! Although the cape now smells slightly of Guinness, probably not his finest moment.
